Good Grief ~ It’s Anger Alright

January 14, 2013

Through art we express ourselves, if we are honest we expose our inner truths

and through peeling away the layers our  contradictions of being are exposed.

In some of these works I try to explore my anger and frustration with life and it isn’t always pretty

it’s just an exploration on a journey of discovery

But through trying to be honest with yourself you acquire a wisdom.

There are no rules, so what binds us?

Do we all wear masks?

Are we born free?

Are our shared experiences all different?

Are there definitive answers to all questions?

Answers @the end of this post.

(A) –  Only joking my life is full of unanswered questions

A friend sent me a link about a collaborative project involving grief and anger and this got me thinking about my work and how I frequently veer off at a tangent into an expression of anger. I never studied grief and how we are affected by it but I’m sure the loss of my sisters and mother had an impact that will forever be part of my make up. I used to worry about expressing anger in my work for fear of judgment but it is a part of us all.  Now I try to express myself  holistically in a life that is just a work in progress. 🙂

I definitely see quite a lot of anger here!
I love the answer to all the questions! life is indeed full of unanswered questions.
Being as honest as possible isn’t always pretty, but it’s pretty powerful.
    Take care

Hi Annerose, it was quite strange looking over my work for angry bits but it helped to instill a bit of objectivity, though I do like a healthy mix within my work to maintain my equalibrium 🙂 . I’m still enjoying the search for ideas and meaning and my enthusiasm for making and exhibiting sculpture is coming back again. I always enjoy reading your comments, Eoghan
