Trusting in the unknown

February 9, 2016

The images I’ve recently been posting on my blog are essentially hybrid drawings which I’ve processed in many different ways. This work represents the culmination of five years of endeavour in which I’ve followed an intuitive calling. I can honestly say that I had no idea where I would arrive with this work, which is full of surprises, even to me as the  co author to chance. 🙂

It’s been curious and intense as my work has led me in a direction which almost by chance validates my philosophical approach to art and life. It’s like the work has taught me about myself and about life, through a mysterious depiction of possibilities. Sometimes I felt like a passenger, open to the experience and then I would grasp hold of the conceptual possibilities and run with them, but never forcing my will too heavily.

I feel what I’ve achieved in this period of my life is an authenticity that goes beyond my prior achievements as an artist. And it was all done through trusting that beyond our control there are possibilities. That by not taking ownership of all actions in a contrived way, I may be open enough, to allow what is beyond my current level of perception.

Of course everything is relative and so I can say I’m astonished by what I’ve learned and how much I’ve developed on a human level. In simple terms I’ve freed myself, liberating my latent creative potential, which I had been too inhibited to access. And I’ve done it in quite a metaphysical way which has complemented my prior approach through the doctrine of a rational/logic intent.

Art is a mystery as is life and sometimes trusting in the reassuring actuality of being is all it takes to move forward into the originality of your own existence.
